Carpet Beetle Control
Know how to get rid of Carpet Beetle
Wool, fur, feathers, hair, skins, horns, silk, and bone, as well as cereals, cake mixes, crimson pepper, rye meal, and flour, are all resources of food for carpet beetles. Powdered milk, dog and cat food, leather, book bindings, dead insects, and even cotton, linen, and rayon discolored with spilled foods or animal excreta are all potential food sources. The larvae wreak havoc by crawling from room to room, hiding behind baseboards and moldings, as well as in air ducts, dresser drawers, carpets, clothing, and furniture. Adult beetles are quick to fly and can be seen outside eating on pollen, particularly on plants with white or cream-colored blooms.
Prior to treatment, locate the source of the infestation. Larvae of carpet beetles like to eat in dark, protected areas. Check for lint in baseboards, upholstered furniture, air ducts, stuffed animals, stored cereals or grain, abandoned bird or wasp nests beneath eaves or in attics, woolens, clothes closets, and furs, among other places. In addition, inspect all boxes and suitcases in storage locations for bugs or damage.
